Official Notice of Intellectual Property Rights, Licensing and Authorization

The International Sujok Association (ISA) is committed to protecting the intellectual property, heritage, educational standards and authorized use of SUJOK® and SUJOK-related intellectual property.

SUJOK was developed and systematized by Late Prof. Park Jae Woo. Specific SUJOK works and intellectual-property assets have been protected through copyright registrations, trademark registrations and other applicable intellectual-property rights in various jurisdictions. This page constitutes an official public notice regarding the intellectual property rights associated with SUJOK and the requirements governing authorized use of such intellectual property.

The name SUJOK, SUJOK-related marks, publications, educational works, training materials, books, diagrams, illustrations, audiovisual materials, logos, certificates, digital content and other proprietary materials may be protected by one or more forms of intellectual-property rights, depending upon the particular asset and applicable jurisdiction.

Such rights may include:

• Trademark rights;

• Copyright;

• Rights arising from assignment, inheritance or succession;

• Licensing and contractual rights;

• Rights in proprietary educational materials;

• Rights relating to logos, branding and certification materials; and

• Other rights and remedies available under applicable law.

 

The existence and scope of protection of any particular intellectual-property asset shall be determined according to the applicable registration, ownership document, licence, assignment, succession document and applicable law.

Copyright protection applies to the all specific original works protected under applicable copyright law.

Unless authorized by the applicable copyright owner, or otherwise permitted by law, protected SUJOK works may not be reproduced, copied, published, distributed, translated, adapted, communicated to the public or commercially exploited in a manner reserved to the copyright owner. Protected works may include, without limitation:

• Books;

• Manuals;

• Course materials;

• Written educational materials;

• Diagrams;

• Illustrations;

• Photographs;

• Presentations;

• Videos;

• Audio-visual materials;

• Digital educational content;

• Training resources;

• Publications; and

• Other original literary or artistic works.

 

Under applicable copyright law, unauthorized exercise of rights reserved to the copyright owner may constitute copyright infringement.

 

SCOPE OF AUTHORIZATION

Any communication, consultation, proposal, submission, collaboration or participation undertaken with any authority, organization, institution or other body in relation to SUJOK shall be understood within the scope of the specific authorization granted for that purpose. Such participation or engagement, by itself, shall not be construed as creating or extending any independent right, licence or permission to use, develop, modify, reproduce, promote, commercialize or otherwise utilize SUJOK-related intellectual property beyond the expressly authorized scope. Any further use of SUJOK-related intellectual property shall remain subject to the applicable rights, permissions and written authorizations of ISA and/or the respective intellectual-property owner.

 

NO UNAUTHORIZED USE

No person, individual, organization, body, institute, academy or other entity is permitted to use, reproduce, copy, modify, translate, publish, distribute, teach, commercialize or otherwise exploit SUJOK-related intellectual property without prior written permission from the International Sujok Association (ISA) and/or the respective intellectual-property owner, as applicable. Any permission or authorization granted is specific, limited and subject to its stated terms and conditions.

 

AUTHORIZED PERSONS ARE ALSO BOUND

Authorization granted by ISA is specific to its approved scope and conditions and does not constitute an unrestricted licence to use SUJOK-related intellectual property.

 

Any use beyond the authorized scope, or any unauthorized reproduction, modification, distribution, commercial exploitation or other misuse of protected intellectual property, including by an authorized person or institution, may result in appropriate action under applicable law.

 

ISA AUTHORIZATION

Only persons and institutions specifically authorized by ISA may represent themselves as:

• ISA-authorized teachers or trainers;

• ISA-authorized academies or institutions;

• ISA-approved training partners;

• Providers of ISA-authorized courses; or

• Issuers of official ISA certificates.

Use of the name “SUJOK” does not, by itself, establish authorization, affiliation, endorsement or approval by ISA.

 

VERIFY BEFORE YOU ENROL

Before joining any SUJOK course or training program, verify directly with ISA whether the teacher, institution, course and certification are currently authorized.

 

LEGAL ENFORCEMENT

ISA and/or the respective intellectual-property owner reserves the right to take appropriate legal action against any unauthorized or improper use of protected intellectual property, including misuse by persons or institutions that have previously received authorization. Such action may include notices, takedown requests, administrative proceedings, civil proceedings, injunctions, claims for damages and other remedies available under applicable law.
